Registration to pitch for Crazy8s 2010 is now closed. Thank you to everyone who braved the cold and snow to sign up at the Vancity Theatre on Dec. 13.

Video pitches are due by 5:00 pm on Friday Jan. 15th, 2010.  Pitches longer than 5 minutes will not be accepted.

Please start the video pitch by telling us your name, the role(s) you are playing on the film (writer/director/producer), and the title of the film.  If you’ve confirmed who will be filling the other role(s), please also tell us this information.

NOTE: The director and producer must be two separate people. There’s so much work to get done in 8 days, it would be impossible for one person to try to pull off both jobs.

Pitches can be submitted on DVD or by FTP to the Crazy8s website.  Check back soon for details on acceptable file formats and how to submit by FTP.

The top 40 teams will be notified by Jan. 25th, 2010 to schedule a time to pitch in person to a jury of industry professionals on either Jan. 29 or 30th, 2010.

Invited filmmaker(s) will have 5 minutes to pitch their story and themselves to the jury.  NOTE: the in-person jury will not have viewed your video pitch.

No reels are permitted as part of your in-person pitch.  Invited filmmakers are asked to bring a short synopsis of their project and a bio of the director printed on a single page.

The jury will then select 12 filmmaking teams to enter the CBC Story Development phase.  Semi-finalists will be announced Feb. 1st, 2010.

The 12 semi-finalists will be paired with a professional story editor to help craft their script.  Filmmakers will have three weeks to develop their script before presenting them to the jury.  Final scripts are due Feb. 15th.

Completed projects will be no more than 10 minutes in length, which translates roughly to 10 script pages.

Upon reading the scripts, the jury will then select the final 6 to go into production.  Finalists will be announced Feb. 18th.

The final six teams will be provided with $800 in cash, an HD Camera, sound recording equipment, a lighting and grip package, a casting director, full production insurance, free location permits, discounts on vehicle/props/costume rental, a binder with all required paperwork, access to edit suites if required, on-line editing including title generation, colour correction, sound editing, and a professional sound mix.

Crazy8s production/post-production will run from 18 – 25th, 2010.  Gala Screening and Party will be at the Vogue Theatre on March 27th, 2010.

Creativity, energy and originality are key.  It's fast, it’s fun, it's Crazy!

Directors must be Canadian Citizens or Landed Immigrants, and also BC Residents to apply.

Past Crazy8s directors may not re-apply as directors, but may work on Crazy8s films in any other role.
